Soothe Sinuses Succinctly

teaIf you have a cold, your sinuses are likely inflamed.  The best anti-inflammatory in the world is omega 3 fatty acids.  Omega 3s are found in good quality fish oils and for my vegan friends, algae.

Not all fish oils are created equal.  I will advise against buying most from the supermarket, although there are a few trustworthy brands like Jarrow and Vital Choice.  In creating this remedy, I used Metagenics liquid EPA/DHA http://asamon.metagenics.com/mp/products/omegagenics-epa-dha-2400.  I also recommend EPA from Thorne Research https://www.thorne.com/products/dp/super-epa

Start off by taking 2 supplements 3x day with meals.  If you don’t feel relief by the end of the first day, up the dose to 3 softgels 3x day, and continue raising the dose from there.  A good quality supplement will also contain  Vitamin E, which is very soothing.  Throughout the day, you’ll want to drink cat’s claw tea.  No cats were harmed in the making of this tea!

Una de Gato, as it’s known in Peru, is made from the root and bark of a plant that looks like a cat’s claw, and medicinally allows your immune system to grow claws that reduce inflammation and strengthen your body’s response to infection, as well as reduce fever and congestion.  Even when your head is going to explode from sinus pressure, you can boil water.  In fact, you don’t even have to wait that long, or use a tea kettle.  Once your water begins to steam, steep your tea.  Repeat 2 ½ teaspoons of cat’s claw tea, steeped in water, every four hours.  You will feel warm, de-congested and revitalized in no time!
